Arctic Extreme

I survived another Arctic Extreme (tramp in mountains and soo much more), but it was more like Arctic Mild this year and much more enjoyable than last year. Even though I am staff this year I had to be a student on 'Arctic adventure' as we called it, which meant i wasn't in the know about all that was happening and I had to participate in all the activities the same as the students.

We started the adventure at 6:00am when we woke the students up with the fire alarm. We then had a short Bible study thing around the camp fire...


And then we had some team building games



And a food challenge! Helen, a fellow Kiwi, was in charge of this challenge and we had to eat whole fish thingies, liver stuff and a few other things but the best was marmite. Obviously that was no problem for me (although vegiemite would have better) but some of the Scandinavians really struggled with it.


The off we went up a mountain, blindfolded! OK so only two people were blindfolded at a time but still it was a challenge. Good excuse to go slow though.




One of our students in front of out tent, and yes that is REAL snow on the mountain in the background. It rained a lot of the time we were there and it also snowed and hailed on us! At night the temperature was below freezing, just as well i have a good sleeping bag :)




Up another mountain, we didn't make it all the way to the top though.
