I like Mali

It’s true. I can’t put into words what it is that I like so much but I like it.
We left Bamako last Sunday and after a 13 hour bus trip in the stinking heat we arrived in Douentza. Luckily we had a man from the YWAM base in Timbuktu with us on the bus kind of as a guide.

Here in Douentza we are staying with a Canadian woman who works with the Garibu (not too sure of the spelling) boys. These are boys who have been given by their parents to be trained to memorize the Koran; they have a very tough life. They live away from their families and have to beg for all their food and clothes and everything.

So we have been joining in the Canadian woman’s ministry feeding the boys, we have also been washing their clothes, and them, playing with them and most importantly loving them!

Where we live there are donkeys, cows, sheep and goats just wandering around the village. They make a lot of noise and it often feels so surreal when reading in the Bible about Jesus’ life and seeing people using donkeys and drawing water from a well. It make it more real.

I've been trying to put photos on here for ages and it just isn't happening, sorry.

And just so you know i have been getting vry hot here but hte mornigns are still chilly when you get up at 6:15 am, I am not hte only wearning a jumper!
