Bamako - Mali

Yes it is true, I am back in Mali!

It has been quite a process to get here mentally, emotionally and spiritually but I have seen God provide for me and walk beside me every step of the way. I have left behind some beautiful places...

I should have some photos of Wellington here but I can't find them now :(

But I have come to another beautiful place, it is not what comes to mind when you think of beauty but it is in it's own way. I know there is still a lot of beauty I have yet to discover here but I am looking forward to it.

Th first photo is a construction site down the road from the place I am staying in Bamako (capital city of Mali). If you look closely you can see that there is a big pile of dirt on the ground which gets thrown up to the 1st level where more guys throw it up to the top floor, not quite what we're used to back home!!!
The second photo is the Clark family.

I am staying with a lovely family, the Clark's here and it is such a blessing. They are looking after me so well and helping me adjust to the climate, people, culture and customs. There have been a few surprises here, for one the Clark's have a pet tortoise!

Can you guess what the blocks of concrete hanging off the wall are for ... holding up a vine that is growing on the other side of the wall.

The last photo is the security on top of the fence surrounding the house, it is broken glass bottles. It is quite common to see that on fences of nice houses.

Ok well this is a bit of a rushed post but I hope it gives you some idea of where I am.

Hope you arrived safely in Douentza - and that the bus ride wasn't to monotonous :) How's the French going? After 12 hours on a bus with a french speaking guy you should be almost fluent by now.
Loved the "vine supports," never would have guessed that's what they were for.
Well, have fun and all that.
